On April 19th, 1982 Namco released another heavy hitter. Dig Dug is still the 6th best coin op game of all time according to the Killer List of Video Games. There isn’t much in lieu of interesting development trivia, however Dig Dug has made multiple cameos including Wreck-It-Ralph.
One thing that I though was fascinating was how good the port to the Atari 2600 was. It wasn’t going to compete with a full size video arcade cabinet, but compared to other ports, this game was a great attempt.

According to Dig Dug on Arcade-History, the developers from Dig Dug went out after release to watch people play, and were surprised that players generally fell into two groups: one group enjoyed blowing enemies up, and the other enjoyed dropping rocks on them.
